Virginia reports over 1,000 new cases of COVID-19, the most in five days

Virginia reported 1,054 new cases and 10 deaths from the coronavirus on Thursday. The new cases mark the highest single-day number since Saturday.

Currently, the Commonwealth has 99,428 confirmed cases, and 2,248 confirmed deaths with 868 COVID hospitalizations reported which is 16 fewer compared to Wednesday’s numbers.

Last Friday, Virginia reported its largest single-day increase in new COVID-19 cases with 1,897.

Maryland reported 776 new cases and nine deaths with 470 hospitalizations Thursday, its lowest number of COVID patients hospitalized since mid-July.

D.C. reported 65 new coronavirus cases and one death. Since Saturday, the District previously reported five COVID deaths, the most for a week since July 17.
