LADAKH – In a fresh standoff between Indian and Chinese armies in Ladakh sector of Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops on Saturday objected to the construction of a watchtower by China, sources said.

According to the sources, Chinese forces were building a watchtower. On Friday, while patrolling Indian Army discovered some construction in that area and on Saturday along with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) they went to demolish it.

The sources said the situation is fully under control and the Indian troops are keeping a close eye on it.

Indian and Chinese troops were in 2014 locked in an over three-week long stand-off in the Chumar and Demchok areas of eastern Ladakh which was resolved by way of an understanding reached between the two sides to carry out disengagement and redeployment of border troops to restore the "status quo ante".
