Setting an ambitious target of winning more than 122 seats in the next assembly elections in 2016, senior BJP leader P Muralidhar Rao said BJP will occupy the political vacuum in Tamil Nadu. Observing the state politics and its transitional phase, Rao said people in the state are now feeling suffocated under the rule of DMK and AIADMK.

Setting an ambitious target of winning more than 122 seats in the next assembly elections in 2016, senior BJP leader P Muralidhar Rao said BJP will occupy the political vacuum in Tamil Nadu. Observing the state politics and its transitional phase, Rao said people in the state are now feeling suffocated under the rule of DMK and AIADMK.
At a time when top leaders of both parties are caught up in major scams and charges of corruption, he said, BJP will take up the role of opposition in Tamil Nadu, from Kanyakumari to Chennai. “We are no longer a North Indian party here. Unlike UPA, we fight for the cause of Tamil fishermen and the rights of Sri Lankan Tamils too. Major challenge before us is to expand the party and we are already successful in that effort under the leadership of new state chief Tamilisai Soundararajan,” Rao said, referring her to the most powerful state women chief after Vasundhara Raje.
Rao is in the city as part of the party general council meeting being held here.
