Thiruvananthapuram: Congress veteran AK Antony’s son Anil K Antony on Tuesday opposed the controversial BBC documentary on 2002 Gujarat riots, saying that “we should not let that be exploited by external agencies to create division in this country”.
Anil K Antony’s comments on the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes at a time when several Kerala Congress leaders have announced that the screening of the documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots will be done in the state. It may be noted that PM Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat when the riots took place
“No matter whatever internal differences we may have, we should not let that be exploited by external agencies to create division in this country,” Anil K Antony said.
Raising his voice against the airing of the BBC documentary, Anil opined that despite political differences with the BJP, one should not undermine country’s sovereignty. He slammed BBC, accusing it of having a history of prejudices.
“Despite large differences with BJP, I think those in 🇮🇳 placing views of BBC, a 🇬🇧 state sponsored channel with a long history of 🇮🇳 prejudices,and of Jack Straw, the brain behind the Iraq war, over 🇮🇳 institutions is setting a dangerous precedence,will undermine our sovereignty,” Anil tweeted
