LONDON: Bolton Wanderers footballer Fabrice Muamba was "effectively dead" for more than an hour as doctors battled to save his life following a cardiac arrest, it was revealed on Wednesday.

Muamba collapsed towards the end of the first half of Bolton's FA Cup quarterfinal against Tottenham at White Hart Lane last Saturday.

Senators Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Susan Collins, R-Maine, introduced a bill that would establish passenger advocates at the busiest U.S. airports.

(UPI) -- Travelers who feel wrongly treated by U.S. airport security need an advocate because the federal screening agency will not help otherwise, lawmakers said.

Sunday Times of London is ready to provide evidence that Nupur Mehta was involved in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 India Pakistan match fixing.

When Nupur Mehta threatened the newspaper to sue, it counter attacked by claiming to produce strong evidences against her. ICC has even denied the reports of match fixing.

Washington, March 20 : More and more voices are being raised across the US over an "unfair verdict" against an Indian American student as a White House petition suggesting he was "prejudged and declared guilty" by media gathered momentum.

Dharun Ravi, a former Rutgers University student charged with spying on his gay roommate Tyler Clementi, was found guilty by a New Jersey jury of 15 counts including invasion of privacy and bias intimidation. He faces 10 years in prison and deportation to India.

Amid fresh complications in the custody row involving two children of NRI parents in Norway, two senior Indian diplomats are expected to travel to the Scandinavian country to attend the custody hearing on March 23.

The external affairs ministry has deputed Banashri Bose Harrison, joint secretary in charge of central Europe, and a diplomat dealing with legal affairs to go to Norway.

The duo will also hold talks with senior Norwegian officials.

India has become the world's biggest importer of arms, displacing China by accounting for 10 percent of global arms sales volumes.

Over the past five years, India's imports of major weapons increased by 38 percent between 2007-11, a Swedish security think tank said with Asia topping other regions in arms imports. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in its new report said that India was closely followed by China and Pakistan whose weapons imports constituted 5 per cent each of global sales.
