Islamabad — Pakistan has no plans to conduct a joint military operation with the US against the Taliban in the country, the army announced Friday.

Army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has "dispelled" the speculative reporting in the US media that a joint military operation is on the cards, Xinhua quoted the army as saying.

The US media had reported that Islamabad and Washington agreed to launch a joint anti-terror operation in North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan.

Washington — Software giant Oracle has agreed to pay $2 million to settle US regulators' charges that its Indian subsidiary violated foreign anti-bribery laws by secretly setting aside money to make unauthorized payments to phony vendors.

In a complaint filed with the federal court in San Francisco, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Thursday alleged that during a period between 2005 and 2007, employees at Oracle India had distributors keep some funds off the books.
