MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank has advised the public to start exchanging pre-2005 notes at banks, saying the volume of such notes that are being withdrawn from circulation is ‘not significant.’

South Korea vows harsh penalties for data leaks

SEOUL: South Korean regulators on Wednesday vowed tougher penalties for financial firms and executives who fail to protect customer data, following the unprecedented theft of information from at least 20 million people.
"If an accident like this happens again, the company in question will be shut and its executives will no longer be able to work in this industry," Shin Je-yoon, the head of the financial supervisory commission (FSC), told reporters.

FDI in food processing touches $2.15 billion

MUMBAI: The food processing industry attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) worth $2.15 billion between during the April-October period of this fiscal and the government expects higher inflows to improve further this fiscal, a senior government official said here today.
"We see significant increase in FDI in the food processing sector. The average FDI inflow was $117 million for 11 years ending FY12 and $401 million in FY13. During the April-October period, it jumped to $2.15 billion.
