Thalapathy Vijay and director Venkat Prabhu’s ‘The Greatest of All Time’ aka ‘GOAT’ recorded a phenomenal opening at the box office worldwide. The spy thriller raked in approximately Rs 43 crore nett at the domestic box office, reported the tracking website, Sacnilk. According to reports, ‘GOAT’ could have easily surpassed Rs 100 crore (gross) at the worldwide box office. The official numbers are still awaited.
‘GOAT’ released in theatres on September 5 across the globe in multiple languages. This is Vijay’s penultimate film before he jumps into politics full-time.
The espionage spy thriller is said to have minted Rs 43 crore nett in India with a major contribution from the Tamil version, which stands at Rs 38.3 crore nett. The Telugu and the Hindi versions of ‘GOAT’ have earned Rs 3 crore and Rs 1.7 crore, respectively.
On September 5, ‘The Greatest of All Time’ recorded an occupancy of 76.23 per cent in India. The film is expected to create history at the box office with its business.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, ‘GOAT’ features Vijay in two roles. The supporting cast stars Prashanth, Prabhudheva, Mohan, Sneha, Jayaram, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary and Ajmal Ameer, among others.
Produced by AGS Entertainment, ‘GOAT’s’ music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni and editor Venkat Raajen are part of the technical crew. According to producer Archana Kalpathi, the budget of ‘GOAT’ stands at Rs 380 crore, inclusive of GST.
