WASHINGTON, D.C. – 8 million household and cleaning products are under recall due to the risk of bacterial infection according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The agency reports 8 million units of The Laundress laundry and household cleaning products are under recall due to the risk of Burkholderia cepacia complex, Klebsiella aerogenes, and multiple species of Pseudomonas organisms.
CPSC states the organisms are widely found in soil and water but could affect people with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, and underlying lung conditions. The bacteria enter the body through inhalation, through the eyes, or breaks in the skin. Those with healthy immune systems are usually not affected.
Testing has found bacteria in certain products, including those produced between January 2021 and September 2022.
