Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur on Sunday said that the women in blue are looking forward to executing the plans for the T20 Wolrd Cup in the upcoming tri-nation T20 series, featuring England and Australia.
Kaur was seen speaking in the press conference conducted to announce the Indian squad for the tri-nation series and ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, to be played between February 21 and March 8. Both the tournaments will be played in Australia with the tri-series beginning from 31st January.
“It is always good going a bit early wherever you are going to play in the future and before World Cup, we are getting tri-series and in that platform, we have to execute ourselves,” ANI quoted Kaur as saying to the reporters.
The Indian skipper also shed light on how the Women’s T20 cricket has changed over the years. She believes the changing graph of women cricketers’ performance is the evidence of it.
She also expressed that all the teams in the World Cup are looking competitive but remained optimistic that if Indian players produce their 100 percent on the field they can fetch positive results.
“It (Women’s T20 cricket) has changed a lot. Initially, if you see, the total score used to be around 120-130… The game has changed a lot, the teams are looking more confident and looking for bigger scores on the board. That is the reason that the performances are getting better and every team is doing so great,” she said.
