Montgomery County has activated its Extreme Heat Plan for a Hyperthermia Alert for Saturday, until 6 p.m.

The expected heat index is around 100 degrees.

County officials ask residents to protect themselves, their kids and their pets from heat-related illnesses, including heat stroke and exhaustion.

Officials are also asking residents to check on elderly friends, neighbors and relatives who could be isolated to ensure they’re not showing signs of heat-related illnesses.

To escape the pool, open county facilities like swimming pools, libraries and recreation centers, can be used.

Montgomery County officials said children, the elderly and pets should never be left in parked vehicles during hot weather.

Officials ask that residents know the signs of heat exposure, which include heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
