Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher remains unable to walk nearly three years after suffering a severe head injury during a skiing accident in France, his lawyer told a German court Monday.
Schumacher is suing the magazine Bunte after it reported last Christmas that sources claimed the racing icon could raise his arm and walk a few steps with the assistance of his therapists, according to BBC News. In detailing Schumacher's condition, attorney Felix Damn said the seven-time champion "cannot walk."
"Unfortunately we are forced by a recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true," Schumacher's agent, Sabrine Kehm, said in a statement last winter. "Such speculation is irresponsible, because given the seriousness of his injuries, his privacy is very important. Unfortunately they also give false hope to many involved people."
Schumacher was placed in a medically induced coma following the horrific accident, and his family has since provided few details as to the extent of the 47-year-old's injuries. It's believed that Schumacher is receiving treatment at his home in Switzerland.
