CHENNAI, INDIA – TVS Motor Company that recently launched the new TVS Victor and the Apache RTR 200 in India, is now planning to bring in an all-new concept at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016. As per an official media invite, the new TVS bike concept will make its debut on February 3, 2016 – the first media day of the Motor Show.
The new TVS concept is expected to be based on the BMW G310 R – a bike that has been co-developed by TVS & BMW. While BMW will brand it as BMW G310, TVS could call it the Apache RTR 300. Though the both the bikes will share most of their components, platform and engine, styling will be quite different.
While the BMW G 310 R will attract people looking for an affordable BMW bike, the TVS Apache RTR 300 could be be priced a little aggressive to attract a larger number of buyers. This is the same strategy that Bajaj Auto and KTM are following. For people not in the know, the BMW G 310 R will be the most affordable bike from the German bikemaker.
Powering both the BMW G 310 R and TVS Apache RTR 300 will be the same 313cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 34bhp at 9,500rpm and a peak torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm. Transmission option on offer will be a six-speed manual unit.
Though both BMW G 310 R and TVS Apache RTR 300 will be sold in the country, there's no clarity if the bikes will be sold through TVS network or by both the brands independently.
