MELBOURNE, Australia — A major sports betting website suspended betting on a mixed doubles match played Sunday at the Australian Open after it was suspected that the match was fixed, the New York Times reported.

Large amounts of money came in on the match between Lara Arruabarrena and David Marrero against Andrea Hlavackova and Lukasz Kubot on the booking website Pinnacle Sports, the Times said, raising red flags.

Nearly all of the money was bet on Hlavackova and Kubot, causing the site to believe fixing could be involved, the Times reported. They won 6-0, 6-3.

More than $25,000 had been placed on the match, a total much higher than the $2,000 that a typical doubles match might attract.

The suspicious activity comes a week after tennis was rocked by a report from BuzzFeed News and the BBC which claimed that as many as 16 players— including Grand Slam singles and doubles winners — had been involved in match fixing in the past.

The International Tennis Federation told the Times that it had been notified of the suspicious activity around the mixed doubles match and that its watchdog, the Tennis Integrity Unit, would handle any information around the suspected match fixing.
