6.2-magnitude quake hits Afghanistan, tremors felt in north India

Strong tremors jolted Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi on Monday afternoon around 330pm as an earthquake of 6.2 magnitude rocked Afghanistan.

Tremors were also felt in the neighbouring Pakistan.

The epicenter of the quake was 88 kilometers (54.68 miles) from Feyzabad in Afghanistan, at a depth of 209 kilometers (129.87 miles), the US Geological Survey said.

Panic-stricken people ran out of their homes and offices in Srinagar and Chandigarh but no loss to life or property has been so reported so far.

Indian woman in Pakistan: 4 families claim ‘Geeta is ours’

NEW DELHI – The mystery over the parentage of a hearing-and-speech impaired Indian woman stranded in Pakistan grew more intriguing on Saturday after foreign minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted that a Bihar family said Geeta was their daughter, bringing the number of such claims up to four.

New Delhi: Mysore has topped the Swachh Bharat rankings among 476 cities in the country with three more places from Karnataka figuring in the top 10.

Among urban local bodies in the national capital, Delhi Cantonment was ranked 15th in the list and New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) 16th, while Municipal Corporation of Delhi was at 398th position.
