NEW DELHI – A day after he described Rahul Gandhi as an expert without knowledge , Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday continued to train his guns on the Congress vice-president saying the Congress scion can't differentiate between parliamentary speech and slogans.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi soon after the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die after a stormy 23-day Monsoon Session, Jaitley mocked Gandhi for his Lok Sabha speech cheat sheet the photo of which was published in an English daily on Thursday.
"Jo log likha hua padhte hain … woh ek hi baat kehte hain (Those who read out from a piece of paper repeat things as they have nothing new to say.),"Jaitley said.
Jaitley came down hard on Rahul Gandhi for his remark on the RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "It is expected that when seniority is thrust on you, a certain maturity is required … in this case and what I heard yesterday … the more he grows, the more he immatures."
Commenting on the obstruction created by the Opposition in both houses of Parliament during the Monsoon Session, the Leader of the House reiterated that the government was ready to discuss every issue on the floor of the house but Congress' attitude made it impossible to carry out any business.
"We have a bicameral house. The politics of disruption has come primarily in the Rajya Sabha. The premise that the problem was in the Lok Sabha is erroneous. The Lok Sabha carried some business," Jaitley said.
"Congress party's real intent was to not let the economy grow, they used lung power to try and halt progress. India stands educated about Congress party and the family that controls it," the finance minister added.
Asserting that Congress could not tolerate that anyone from outside Gandhi family was ruling the country, the Union Minister said, "Its policy seems to be to just stop any other government in power."
Criticising the Congress-led Opposition's tactic in the just concluded Monsoon Session, Jaitley said the NDA will inform the people of the country about how Congress and other parties are trying to halt the nation's progress.
"We have also decided that NDA will take this across the country against the approach of the Congress and Opposition … who disrupted the House," he said.
