BANGALORE: A 38-year-old woman was brutally attacked with a machete in an ATM in the heart of the city on Tuesday, leaving her severely injured, police said.

BANGALORE: A 38-year-old woman was brutally attacked with a machete in an ATM in the heart of the city on Tuesday, leaving her severely injured, police said.
The woman, manager at Corporation Bank, entered the ATM in which no security guard was present, to withdraw cash when the assailant followed her inside and brought down the shutter before threatening her with the weapon, police said.
When the woman resisted, the assailant pushed her down and attacked her with the machete before closing the shutter and escaping, they said.
The ATM, located near a police station, did not have a security guard.
The victim has been admitted to hospital with severe injuries, police said, adding that they have obtained the CCTV footage from the ATM and are investigating the matter.
