Kolkatta: Attacking the UPA government, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today accused it of “looting” the public. Banerjee left for New Delhi this evening for her anti-UPA rally on October 1, where she is expected to give a call for another “paribartan” — this time at the Centre.

Mamata arrives at her Delhi residence on Saturday.

“Reforms are meant to usher development for the people. Nowadays, the trend is whenever any anti-people decision is taken, it is taken in the name of reforms. In the name of reforms and aam aadmi, loot cholchhe, loot,” Banerjee posted on her Facebook page on Saturday.

“Her popularity has reached beyond Bengal. Trinamool now has MLAs in Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. She has become the symbol of protest. The Centre will taste public fury on October 1. All of us will reach Delhi by tomorrow night. Monday’s rally will be a historic one,” said Trinamool MP Suvendu Adhikari.

The Trinamool Congress is expected to intensify its attack against the Centre on economic reforms. Party leaders claimed that Banerjee has gained the confidence of retailers and farmers across the country. Several retailers’ organisations have reportedly extended their support to the rally.
