Scorecard: Sri Lanka 139 for 1 (Tharanga 59*, Dilshan 50) beat India 138 (Gambhir 65, Perera 3-19, Mathews 3-14) by nine wickets
After superlative performance in the first match India has now failed to come back in the second ODI today.Other than Gambhir nobody could actually get the double figure properly. Batting first India could post only 138 in just 33 over’s with Perera 3-19 and Mathews 3-14 dong their job with the ball.
Gambhir could be the only savior with 65. Earlier India won the toss and elected to bat in this windy conditions and this crushed them down while the opener Sehwag falling in the 4th over. And then it continued with Virat who was in a massive form caught by the keeper only for 1.
With small target to chase the Lankans opened the innings with a massive Openers Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan by putting on 119 for the first wicket at a run-rate of 7.14. Tharanga remained unbeaten on 59 off 60 balls while Dilshan fell in the 17th over for 50. And as expected Indian Skipper Dhoni said “We kept losing wickets at regular intervals and Gauti played well.” Likewise Sri Lankan Skipper also has similar but opposite “We played as a team and the bowling department has done their job.” With this win the Lankans level the 5 ODI Series 1-1.
