MUMBAI – Hrithik Roshan's Agneepath was one of the biggest releases of the year. And after the box office, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan is now dominating the small screen as well.

The satellite rights for Karan Johar's film were sold for R41 crore. And it seems that the astronomical price tag was well worth it, as the TV premiere clocked a high nationwide 4.7 TRP.
Interestingly, the film (aired on Zee Cinema) managed a TRP of 6.7 in Mumbai while in Gujarat, it was as high as 7.4. It's the highest average TRP for Zee Cinema.
It's also interesting to note that Agneepath has garnered the highest TRP among all Bollywood films released in the last six months. While Shah Rukh Khan's Don 2 clocked 2.9 TVR, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu got 0.73. The Akshay Kumar-John Abraham-starrer Desi Boyz managed 2.4.
Apoorva Mehta, COO of Dharma Productions, explains, "Agneepath has a very pan-India appeal since it's a massy, gritty film. It's great to see that audiences who loved the film on the big screen have patronised it on TV too."
Of course, the roadside hoardings and newspaper ads were hard to miss. Mehta adds, "I must say that the promotion of the film by the channel was also very good. They worked very hard on it."
Zee's figure of R41 crore apparently beats what Sony has paid for Aamir KhanKareena Kapoor's forthcoming Talaash ( R38- 40 crore). In fact, the transaction had also beaten Star Network's reported R35 crore pay-cheque for Shah Rukh Khan's RA.One.
