IPL molestation row: Luke Pomersbach has confessed to his crime

Royal Challengers Bangalore player Luke Pomersbach, accused of molesting an American woman and assaulting her boyfriend, on Monday confessed to his crime, stating that he might have touched the victim unintentionally. In an initial statement given to police, has also accepted of being in an inebriated state.

Royal Challengers Bangalore player Luke Pomersbach, accused of molesting an American woman and assaulting her boyfriend, on Monday confessed to his crime, stating that he might have touched the victim unintentionally. In an initial statement given to police, has also accepted of being in an inebriated state.

According to reports, Luke accepted that he unintentionally touched the victim and when her fiancé Sahil came to intervene, Luke lost his cool and hit Sahil. He then realized his action and came back to apologize. Police also said that Luke’s injured hand was during the altercation with the victim’s friend. Meanwhile, Mumbai-based businessman Sahil Peerzada, fiancé of the victim Zohal Hamid will be discharged from the hospital later today.

Australian cricketer Pomersbach was granted bail by a Delhi court on Saturday which found that he had not tresspassed into the woman’s room in the five star hotel where the alleged incident took place.

The court also directed 27-year-old batsman not to approach the complainant woman.

After watching the CCTV footage provided by the police, metropolitan magistrate Navita Kumari Bagha enlarged Pomersbach on bail and said that no offence under section 452 of the IPC for ‘house-trespass or wrongful restraint’ is made out against him.

The court granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs. 30,000 along with two sureties of the like amount.

The magistrate directed the cricketer to surrender his passport before it and asked him not to leave the country without its prior permission.

Pomersbach, who has had a history of brawls and brush with police in his country, was accused of outraging the modesty of a woman at a New Delhi hotel on the intervening night of May 17-18 night, after a post-match party.
