PM Modi will ride the Chennai Metro from Porur Bypass Station to Poonamallee Bypass Station and back.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Chennai Airport on Sunday, as the latter arrived in the city for a series of official engagements and the launch of development projects worth over Rs 13,000 crore.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi’s visit includes the inauguration of the Poonamallee–Vadapalani stretch of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, a metro ride between Porur Bypass and Poonamallee Bypass stations, and the inauguration and foundation-laying of projects across the road, railway, port, petroleum and education sectors.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre at IIT Madras and participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
The Chennai Metro stretch, built at a cost of around Rs 4,900 crore, is among the key projects on the Prime Minister’s itinerary.
