The Hyderabadi Biryani and Hyderabadi Haleem, with a blend of Mughlai and Arabic cuisine have become iconic dishes of India. Hyderabadi cuisine is highly influenced by Mughals and partially by Iranians.

While Biryani is available 365 x 24 the special dish only available in the holy month of Ramzan is Haleem. The city already started it sales with 10 days prior to Ramzan month.  It is cooked on wood fire while it takes a lot of time to get ready. The dish is specially made with wheat, mutton and sprinkled with lemon juice or spicy masala to adjust flavor to the taste of the eater. The demand is very high in the city and across the world as always. There is also Chicken available just in case if you don’t like eating the mutton.

All the hotels, restaurants and eateries are busy preparing Haleem with their own standards and rates ranging from Rs. 70-100 for Mutton and Rs. 30-40 for Chicken. It’s also a known fact that unlike Muslims who are on fasting for this holy month consume Haleem widely, in order to break their fast, Veggies or Hindus here in town also are known to be a big fans of this Non-Veg dish.

The makers also tap the Vegetarian Customers with Vegetarian Haleem which is made of Potato, Tomato and all other natural cereal and pulses. Just because Holy Month coincides with Sravana month which starts from August 1 this would be a big relief and also act as an alternative for those who avoid Non Veg during Sravana month. Hindus who follow a ritual of not eating non veg during this month are literally happy because they got a better option now and with a cheaper price. Usually the Veg Haleem is not more than 50 bucks.
