US special forces are based in India and four other South Asian countries, a Pentagon commander has said. India quickly denied hosting American troops on its soil. The US and India are working together to contain Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Toiba, blamed for the 2008 Mumbai attack, US Pacific Commander Admiral Robert Willard told a Congressional hearing Thursday.

Taking exception to the clubbing of Microsoft India with other social networking websites in a suit for action against them for allegedly hosting offensive contents, a Delhi court today dropped the software giant's name out of the suit calling it an "odd man out".

The court also imposed a cost of Rs 5,000 on plaintiff Mufti Aijas Arshad Quasmi for impleading Microsoft as a party without disclosing any cause of action against it.

WASHINGTON: TransCanada has been asked by yet another top US Senator not to use steel made in other countries, including India, in the construction of the controversial, multi-billion Keystone XL pipeline.

"In the past, TransCanada has chosen to buy their steel from India. When it comes to the Keystone Pipeline, the steel should be stamped with 'made in America," Senator Tom Casey said.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee termed the third quarter GDP number of 6.1 percent as "disappointing" but expressed the hope that economy is expected to register a growth of 7 percent for the entire fiscal. "No doubt, it is disappointing 6.1 percent... but not unexpected," he said.
