People of Indian origin are close to making one percent of America's population of 308.7 million with their numbers shooting up by a whopping 69.37 percent over the last decade.
Indians are now the largest Asian subgroup in 25 states in America, mainly in the South and Midwest, making them the main driver in population growth of Asian Americans, according to an analysis of US 2010 Census data by the California based India-West newspaper.

The shortage of coal and gas may cripple the country’s existing power generation capacity during the summer. The crisis is likely to worsen, a report published in a leading national daily said.
The power ministry has fallen 8,000mw short of the 11th plan target — ending March 31 — of an additional capacity of 62,000 mw due to the fuel shortages, the report added.

Home-grown corporates unveiled ambitious plans for the defence business, with Tata Motors announcing Rs 600-crore investment for developing infantry combat vehicles, and Bharat Forge saying it will invest Rs 100 crore to develop an artillery gun. Hinduja group firm Ashok Leyland said it is planning a foray into aerospace business, both defence and civilian, and is talking to foreign players for technology partnership.
