UN sued over cholera epidemic

Washington — The survivors of a cholera outbreak in Haiti are suing the United Nations in a US court for compensation claim, media reported.

The victims of the 2010 cholera outbreak are demanding billions of dollars in damages to be paid to survivors and the relatives of those killed, the Guardian reported Wednesday.

The UN, however, said it has legal immunity from such compensation claims and has formally rejected it.

Indian millionaires to rise to 3.02 lakh by 2018: Credit Suisse

MUMBAI: The number of millionaires in the country is expected to jump over 66% at 3.02 lakh by 2018, even as 94% of India's population has wealth below $10,000, according to a global wealth report.

At present, the country has 1.82 lakh millionaires, Credit Suisse Research Institute said in its fourth Annual Global Wealth Report 2013 released here today.
