Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden plans to deliver a primetime speech Friday evening as he stands on the cusp of winning the White House.
The former vice president’s plan to deliver a speech was confirmed by an aide to his campaign.
The White House contest remains uncalled but Biden currently holds leads over President Donald Trump in several outstanding states, including Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania. A win in any of those states would make Biden president-elect.
Kamala Harris, Biden’s running mate, is also expected to speak Friday, the campaign aide said.
The Trump campaign has launched a fusillade of legal challenges across the electoral map in the hope of preserving the president’s path to reelection. Trump has lambasted the integrity of the vote count as it has drifted away from him. Neither the president nor his GOP allies have offered evidence or proof of voter fraud on the scale that they have alleged.
Trump has refused to concede the contest, and on Thursday evening levied an array of false or unfounded accusations against the ongoing tally from the White House briefing room. He has no pubic events listed on his schedule for Friday.
