Aaron Finch smashed 71 off 45 balls to set up a comfortable 7 wicket victory for Australia against Bangladesh during their ICC Twenty20 Cricket World Cup match in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Tuesday.
MIRPUR, BANGLADESH: Finch top-scored with 71 off 45 balls and Warner made 48 off 35 as Australia scored 158—3 in 17.3 overs in reply to the home side’s 153—5.
Openers Aaron Finch and David Warner produced well paced knocks as Australia finally won at the World Twenty20, an easy seven wicket win over host Bangladesh.
Finch top-scored with 71 off 45 balls and Warner made 48 off 35 as Australia scored 158—3 in 17.3 overs in reply to the home side’s 153—5.
They shared 98 runs to deny Bangladesh any hope, and ensure Australia finally won a game in the five-team Group 2 before heading home. Bangladesh, which had to qualify for the second round, didn’t win a match in the group.
India has topped the group, and Pakistan and the West Indies meet later on Tuesday to decide the last semifinalist.
For Bangladesh, left-hander Shakib Al Hasan struck a fine 66 and captain Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 47 in a 112—run partnership for the third wicket.

The left-hander hit five fours and three sixes during his 52 ball knock, and captain Mushfiqur Rahim scored a brisk 36 ball 47.
After his fourth T20 half century, Shakib was out caught to a fine catch by Glenn Maxwell at mdwicket off Doug Bollinger in the 18th over. Rahim, who hit five fours and one six, was also caught by Maxwell at the same position off Shane Watson.
Nathan Coulter-Nile took 2—17 for Australia, which has until now failed to win in the Super 10, like host Bangladesh.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat against the Australia, after making three changes to their side. Sohag Gazi, Mominul Haque were included in the playing XI, while 18-year-old seamer Taskin Ahmed made his debut.
Australia have brought in Daniel Christian and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
