A number of big IT companies have announced massive job cuts recently, casting a shadow on the future of youngsters who have either decided to study technology or are recent passouts looking for a job.

These companies include Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra and IBM. According to Executive search firm Head Hunters India, job cuts in the IT sector will be between 1.75 lakh and 2 lakh annually for next three years due to under-preparedness in adapting to newer technologies, reports PTI.

If you are a college passout, a fresh graduate, or somebody who is just unsure about what field to pursue in his/her professional career, world's richest man – Bill Gates has a piece of advice for you. The Microsoft co-founder, in a string of tweets on Monday, revealed what he would do if he had to enter college again. The multi-millionaire revealed that he would major in artificial intelligence, energy, or biosciences in today's time. He called the suggested streams as "promising fields where you can make a huge impact."

"Intelligence takes many different forms," Gates said, adding, "It is not one-dimensional. And not as important as I used to think." Gates also revealed one of his regrets about his student life. "I also have one big regret: When I left school, I knew little about the world's worst inequities. Took me decades to learn."

"You know more than I did when I was your age. You can start fighting inequity, whether down the street or around the world, sooner," he tweeted. Gates  further advised youngsters to surround themselves with people "who challenge you, teach you, and push you to be your best self."
