New Delhi: There comes a time when you feel that working at the current company is not exactly why you had been sent on Earth and that there's a higher calling awaiting you.

Soon you are disgusted with the workplace and the people around you. What you do then? Call it quits and shout from digital rooftops about how pathetic you felt at your job and how much of bullying you went through.

An Apple employee did just that, and more. Ben Farrell has written a piece on his website- roadlesstravelled- giving a detailed account of his two years of working at the tech giant. He talks about how quitting the job at Apple helped him re-claim his creativity, individuality, and free thinking from the secure Apple cloak room.

His article, titled 'I QUIT: WHAT REALLY GOES ON AT APPLE,' begins with a quote by Steve Jobs that says one shouldn't be trapped by dogma and live with what other people think. One must have the courage to follow the heart and intuition.

Farell says that he is no longer "part of the collective iCult machine whose dirty, worn-out, greasy and naive internal mechanisms of bullying, harassment and mind-games push out shiny and polished iPhones every year."

Having worked in the Apple camp managing customer service improvement for their technical support contact centres, Farell claims that he has never witnessed so many 'bizzare' and 'unprofessional' things at the company.

He calls Apple a 'sheltered workshop' that has a 'common language of passive aggression, sarcasm and Kool-Aid fuelled stories of 'success' designed to manipulate and intimidate naive workers who have never experienced corporate life outside the Apple walls.' He further compares Apple to the Forbidden City in Beijing, which the Chinese emperors believed was the centre of the universe.

Farell goes on to talk about how the 16 hour days were filled with meetings that wreaked of toxic agendas, designed to make fools of the less respected and call people out and that team spirit at the company was non-existent. He further claims there is no place for medical or personal emergencies at Apple. He says that even on his wedding day he was harassed by phone and email to send a report someone had lost.

He calls the management inconsistent, moody and erratic. The everyday pressure and stress at Apple are nothing but deliberately manufactured mind games that go on behind the shiny, glossy 'retina' public display that Apple presents, according to him.

Farell's website is a photo account of his journey to many places as a photographer. Quite evidently, his higher calling lay is photography and hence, the disgruntled account of being a customer service manager at one of the world's top companies.

However, it is not the first time that such an account has been witnessed. There have been instances in the past where multiple former employees have spoken out against Apple's extremely demanding work culture.
