New York, March 28: Upendra Chivukula, an Indian American member of the New Jersey state assembly, plans to run for US Congress with the hope of unseating Republican Leonard Lance, who is seeking a third term.
Chivukula, a 10-year assembly veteran who chairs the Telecommunications and Utilities Committee, is the state’s first and only Indian-American lawmaker. He is also a former mayor and councilman in Franklin Township.

MARCH 26 — The Malaysian Indians Progressive Association (MIPAS) has done surveys, studies, gained information and feedback from the rakyat showing that it is not true that the rakyat’s support for Barisan Nasional (BN) is peaking based on the party’s record of fulfilling its promises, as claimed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
MIPAS feels that it is not true that “big winds” are blowing towards BN.

Kingfisher Airlines may have landed into all kinds of troubles, but its flambouyant promoter Vijay Mallya thinks that India's image as an investment destination has taken a beating. "India's global image has taken a beating," Mallya said Monday on the social networking platform Twitter. Kingfisher which is neck-deep into financial problems, seems to be betting on the government's intent to allow foreign airlines to invest in the domestic carriers.

Despite initiating steps to prevent crime in trains and stations, there has been an increase in cases of misconduct against women passengers.
As per data available with the Railways, a total of 712 cases including rape, murder, robbery and eve-teasing were reported against women and children in railway premises in 2011 as against 501 cases in the previous year.
