The Karnataka government ordered arrest of controversial Hindu religious Nityananada and sealing of his ashram complex near here following allegations of sexual exploitation of women.

The order was issued by Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda in the wake of a state-wide demand for his arrest and closure of the ashram in Bidadi, 35 km from Bangalore.

Car sales in India grew at the slowest pace in seven months during May with industry body SIAM Monday reporting 2.78 percent growth as high interest rates and petrol prices continue to hit the market.

According to figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), domestic car sales in May stood at 1,63,229 units as against 1,58,809 units in the same month last year.
