After the big decision for Trinamool Congress declaring their support for UPA presidential nominee Pranab Mukherjee the Congress President Sonia Gandhi called Mamata Banerjee and thanked her. Sonia Gandhi also invited Mamata Banerjee for a lunch with other party officials.

After the big decision for Trinamool Congress declaring their support for UPA presidential nominee Pranab Mukherjee the Congress President Sonia Gandhi called Mamata Banerjee and thanked her. Sonia Gandhi also invited Mamata Banerjee for a lunch with other party officials.
Pranab Mukherjee also thanked her on a telephone and expressed his gratitude. Banerjee also told the media that they had to do this because they don’t have any other options on board. She said ““It is painful decision but we are doing so to support democratic principles.” Banerjee promised to cast her vote just 3 days before the election which are due on 19.
“It was the only option. We did not decide to vote for Pranab to please anyone; in a democracy if we don’t vote then it would be betrayal of the people,” she adds. Earlier she said APJ Abdul Kalam was her first choice but Kalam backed out a while back and she has no other option left out now obviously.
