NEW DELHI: Complaints against autorickshaw drivers will now only lead to challans. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a slew of measures for auto drivers on Friday, including curtailing the powers of the Delhi traffic police. Police can suspend licences or impound vehicles only if the permit, drivers' licence or fitness certificate is missing. The usual fine or challan is just Rs 100.

LONDON: Footprints left by ancient humans 800,000 years ago have been found in Britain, the earliest evidence of such markings outside Africa, scientists said on Friday.
Researchers discovered the footprints, which were left by both adults and children, in ancient estuary mud at Happisburgh in Norfolk, eastern England.
The only older footprints found so far are at Laetoli in Tanzania, at about 3.5 million years old, and at Ileret and Koobi Fora in Kenya at about 1.5 million years, they added.

NEW DELHI: Praising Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival for some of the work he has done, Infosys executive chairman N R Narayana Murthy said the Aam Aadmy Party leader needs to be reasonable with business.

"He (Kejriwal) has done certain good things. However, he also has to be reasonable to business," Murhty said.

WASHINGTON: India has warned the United States of consequences for its companies if lawmakers tighten visa rules on high-tech firms as part of an immigration overhaul.

Ambassador Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that India would see a decision to restrict certain temporary visas for skilled workers as a sign that the US economy is becoming less open for business.
