Hyderabad: When Andhra Pradesh, the first State in the country to be created on the linguistic lines in 1956, is bifurcated on June 2, how can the virtual space left behind? All the IT space belonging to the State will go for a veritable split to mark the division of State, giving birth to Telangana, the 29th State of the country.
The site, however, is not live at the time of filing this story. “It will be available for the public to access from June 2,” an official in the outgoing Government told Business Line. “We have prepared the content and provided all hyperlinks to the relevant sites of the new State. We have tested it too. But, probably, you will see it from tomorrow,” he said.
Similarly, the crucial websites of Commercial Taxes Department, Transport Department, Revenue and Agriculture too would have distinct addresses on the web. The government-to-citizen service portal, Mee Seva, has been shut down for three days. Some other government-to-citizen sites (such as Transport) too have stalled online services in order to facilitate smooth transfer and division of data of the two States.
The residual State of Andhra Pradesh (with 13 districts) will retain all the URLs (web addresses) of the combined State.
Mee Seva, the flagship government-to-citizen services portal, has stalled all the transactions for the last two days. The electronic window for all government services will resume only after 8 pm on June 2. Similarly, the Transport Department of Andhra Pradesh have closed the servers for public access yesterday. The services are expected to resume tomorrow, the appointed day for the bifurcation of the State.
Commercial Taxes
The department can be accessed online at the website address www.tgct.gov.in. But the services on the website of the combined State (www.apct.gov.in) have been put on hold from 8 am on June 1 to 8 am on June 2. "We have closed the website to facilitate migration of data," an official of the Commercial Taxes Department of Andhra Pradesh, told Business Line.
The registered users (dealers) of the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh can continue to use the present website after the bifurcation.
