Gujarat MP first to get ISO stamp for his office

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader C R Patil has become India's first member of parliament (MP) to obtain to an ISO certification 9001: 2008 for his office for excellent role in implementing government schemes for the public.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader C R Patil has become India's first member of parliament (MP) to obtain to an ISO certification 9001: 2008 for his office for excellent role in implementing government schemes for the public.

Patil, who represents Navsari in south Gujarat in the Lok Sabha, received the prestigious certificate at a recent function in Surat from Sandeep Vig, regional director of Intertek Moody, a leading international provider of certification services, which did the audit work of the office.

Patil told that the audit found that his office had well-established channels of implementing various government schemes of the state government for people and has a professional team to manage it.

"This is the first time our company has given an ISO certification to any MP. Our auditors had fixed certain parameters in which Patil qualified," said Vig.

Patil said the idea was to keep his office well-organised to help him keep in touch with the 500,000-odd voters in his constituency.

He was given the certificate for his office for quality management system that was applicable for monitoring and administration of the government services for the constituency. The well-heeled MP has over 50,000 people following him on Facebook.
